RPM Challenge + Chelsey= Lack of Inspiration..?

So, I decided to do the RPM challenge this year...

For those of you that are not familiar with the RPM Challenge, it is a challenge to create an album in the month of February of 10 songs or 35 minutes. I used to write and play a lot more music in my past life (pre store owner) and I have been looking for avenues to create something.

So I am now in panic mode- it is Jan. 30th and i need to start this monster in two days. I am calling all inspiration gods to strike me any moment.

So this is my question: Where does it come from? When I was writing before I had LOADS of baggage to work with- tons of post teenage angst to use. These days, on the other hand, I am happy, healthy and a touch boring. SO do I write songs about being in my mid twenties and happy/boring/confused/conflicted or do I revisit demons?

I will keep you updated as I progress BUT I ask of anyone who is even reading this blog: Provide inspiration to this bewildered girl who just wants to put that 40,000 Music degree to use.

Email me, comment, write on facebook etc with any ideas you may have to subject or any stories that may bring about inspiration!

Livin it up!

Today is a great day. It is Friday, the sun is shining and this beautiful old city is just shimmering. Which brings me to my little "histoire" of the day.

Doug Clouston, a glass artist was down helping a friend pick out a dress for the Republic of Doyle party here in St. John's. We were outside the store chatting with the sun just pouring down and he exclaimed "Where do we live?! Can you believe that we get to live here....its crazy!" And he is right. We live in a pretty sweet spot and I feel very lucky to do what I do (own a shop and consult with arts based projects) and have the experiences that I have. I spoke to the cobbler for 1/2hr yesterday about conspicuous consumption yesterday! (yes! we have a cobbler in downtown st. john's!) But I am not sure luck has anything to do with it- you live the life you want for yourself. I am fairly certain this is the life i have always wanted. As I squint from the beauty sunshine pouring in the store from the windows, I can't help but feel confident and gracious regarding my world and the people in it.

Happy Friday everyone.

Man Fashion.

Ian+Grandpa Cardy+ Skinny Black tie + great worn-in 501 Levis= man fashion

Guys, you can look this effortless/put together in a wink, it just takes a few staple pieces in the ol' closet and Voila!

Man fashion is way more straight forward than women's fashion but can look way cooler (aka effortless).
