People tend to have a love/hate relationship with seasonal dressing. With summer weather lingering here in the beautiful St. John's, making the transition has been super easy this year. The weather is awesome, but i'm starting to get excited about fall fashion. I have some super cute sweater dresses i'm excited to rock again, and I am starting to get a little too comfortable in flip flops! Ah-hem flip flops? Not real shoes. Guilty as charged, and so are you. Don't judge.
I have been looking at trends for fall/winter '12 and i'm so excited for all of the EMBELLISHMENT. Simple and structured pieces in easy to wear shapes, there's a cut and color for everyone but there seems to be one common denominator- a puff of fur here , a splash of studs there, some surprise sequins over there... oh, what's that? A damask embroidery? Amazing. Here at MC we have been building a fantastic fall collection of cuddly sweaters, office dresses, and just everyday cool wears with a little hit of awesome in the detail. The winter is also looking very exciting!
We are seeing this trend in footwear too. I think i'd take these studded vintage FRYE's over my 2 for 1 ON flips.
Check out this beauty silk/cashmere Michael Kors. Just enough Kardashian. This is the look i'm drooling over for fall. Wearable, eye catching, smart, fashion.
Happy boot wearing and stay tuned for more fall fashion!

Fall is such an amazing time for clothing, accessories, food, and all things cosy and warm. It is hard to say goodbye to the warm weather and flip flops but by the end of the summer, I am definitely ready for a change. Boots, scarves, dresses and tights excite and I find myself looking at all things plaid and cable knit. In the interest of being less predictable, we are trying to embrace the subtly of fall, instead of hitting y'all over the head with fall standby styles.
I love this photograph of the beautiful Melanie Caines (www.novayoga.ca) because it takes a shimmery, sparkle-y dress and makes it subtle and casual. The tights and boots bring the dress into focus and create a lovely ethereal shimmer.
Stay tuned for some big changes afoot here on our Model Citizens blog and some really awesome content coming your way. We have been hard at work getting great photos and building fantastic inventory here at the store for our amazing customers and readers. If you are interested in any of the items photographed, don't hesitate to get in contact with us through the blog by posting a comment or by contacting us at Model Citizens.
