Photo of the Day- The Domestics Get Fancy!

The Sweetest thing: Sandy and Ian of "The Domestics" are modelling some of the sweetest gear Model Citizens has to offer! Sandy is in a vintage 50's polkadot dress and a white Coach jacket and Ferregamo flats and is Ian is sporting a vintage denim shirt with Nudie jeans.

Check out details of the Domestics and their latest album, State and Arrow below!

Sandy May and Ian Cornelissen are, domestically speaking, The Domestics. Their musical collaboration began in the winter of 2008 and has produced a sound and style described as “saltwater country meets Bonnie and Clyde”. Their songs have a classic quality delivered in modern fashion, blending country twang with 1960’s rock ‘n roll rhythms, melodic pop sensibilities, and clever, introspective lyrics. Although they are “married…with a band”, Sandy and Ian have also been known to take their intimate, living room style performances on the town as a duo. The Domestics have shared stages throughout Atlantic Canada with such artists as NQ Arbuckle, Dan Mangan, The Skydiggers, Rah-Rah, Kite Hill, The Burning Hell, B.A. Johnson, Al Tuck, Rose Cousins, and Mark Bragg. The Domestics were most recently awarded, FACTOR and MUSICNL New Talent Grants in support of their forthcoming release State & Arrow.

Clare Rocks. Sequins, Lace and Cargo, Oh My!

This outfit totally rocks.
A.P.C cropped cargo pants, vintage sequinned tank and vintage 70's lace coat. This outfit plays with so many things happening in fashion right now- from the embrace of cropped tops to the 1970's sophisticate  of the ace coat, this look has such life in it. Sequinned top is the only thing remaining at MC, but it is on the floor today. If you want to rock the look and are terrified of the bare midriff, start off with high waisted bottoms (skirt or trousers) to really get a contemporary look with a vintage piece.

Fashion can be tricky...

Just when you though it was safe to get back in to your Backless Hoodie...

I Heart Spring!

This dress is one of my favourites! Peach is one of my favourite colours these days and this dress is just so cute! Covered in lil' hearts, it just screams, "Hug Me"! The sweet oxfords and socks add so much to this great spring outfit~

Sweet as Pie! MC's Photo of the Day!

In this photo, we are playing with patterns. Mixing patterns is always hit of miss and we think that htis vintage Marni floral top with these sweet Club Monaco stripes is a perfect look. I love Marni so much and this lil vintage top is dynamite! I love this look and Kerri, our model, is sweet as pie!

Socks with sandals?

Maybe it's because i'm from the land where you can experience multiple seasons in one day. Or maybe it's because my indecisive ways leak into my wardrobe. Whatever the reason, I love layers. I am the first to admit that I have been victim of looking a little schizophrenic when it comes to clothing choices. Now, looking schizophrenic may still get you the occasional double take- but this season many designers are showing us how to do it so that you get the best kind of once overs. Even if you ARE wearing socks with sandals (LOVE!!).

With traditional preppy styles similar to pieces offered at the Gap, bumped up with New York flavor and pops of floral and sequins, J Crew Spring 2011 Ready-to-Wear line is fantastic! Full of vintage cuts and that great 70's palette, this line has a business casual, all girl, "oh, I just threw it on!" appeal.  Unassuming separates and classic pieces paired together, alongside layers playing with patterns, lengths, fabrics and feels makes this line versatile for any kind of affair, at any time of day.

My favorites from this collection are

The whole line is available for viewing (and purchase!) online at jcrew.com.
